My mission is to educate health care professionals on holistic health care so that root causes of illness may be understood and addressed more often and more appropriately. I endeavor to bring eastern and western medical concepts into unison in ways that can enhance both types of practices. By doing so, I hope to elevate the level of health care in the United States, while simultaneously providing a means of saving money.
I believe that Oriental medicine (OM) is the most sophisticated and developed form of holistic medicine that exists. OM is a complete system of medicine that can be used alone or in conjunction with other forms of medicine. When properly practiced, OM can provide individuals with a more conservative form of treatment with little or no side effects. Appropriate conservative methods should always be chosen over more radical forms of treatment.
I envision that the underlying principles of OM can be taught to other health care professionals in ways that will enable them to better serve their individual clients and perhaps even create new innovations to benefit the greater population. In order to increase awareness of OM, it is pertinent to break away language and conceptual barriers that presently exist. It is my hope that my courses will create a bridge between eastern and western practitioners, ultimately permitting better utilization of holistic forms of medicine which are highly effective and simultaneously cost effective.
I also desire to help practitioners of OM better understand western medicine. Advanced diagnostic testing that abounds in modern day medicine can provide practitioners of eastern medicine a more comprehensive picture of illness such that more accurate treatment may be delivered. In addition, increased knowledge of western medicine provides practitioners of eastern medicine the skills to make timely referrals when conventional diagnosis and/or treatment may be more suitable.
It is my ultimate goal that these courses will contribute to a greater understanding amongst health care professionals, legislators, as well as the public, of the value and limitations of various health care practices, so that all may work toward the health and well being of us all.
